Ornamental gold coins are indispensable for special occasions such as weddings, engagements and births, while gram gold is often preferred for saving. So what is the difference between them?

Ornamental gold coins (22 carat)

Quarter, half, full and Republic (Ata) gold coins are 22 carat. Their approximate weights are as follows:

  • Quarter gold coin: approximately 1.75 grams
  • Half gold coin: approximately 3.5 grams
  • Full gold coin: approximately 7 grams
  • Republic (Ata) gold coin: approximately 7.2 grams

In addition to the pure gold value, the price of ornamental gold coins includes a minting and workmanship share; this is why there is a difference between buying and selling prices.

Gram gold (24 carat)

Gram gold is 24 carat, the purity closest to pure gold. It is sold packaged in different weights; because its workmanship share is low, its buying and selling prices are closer to each other.

Which one should I choose?

Ornamental gold coins are generally preferred for gifts and traditional ceremonies, and gram gold for saving. Whichever you buy, make sure that the type, purity and weight of the product are clearly stated on the invoice.
